Defining Website Backups

Local backups

Local backups reside on the same physical drive as their origin data. They are great for
protection against accidental deletion, and some kinds of malicious attack.

Data centre backups

Data centre backups reside in the same physical building as their origin data, but not on the same machine. They are great for protection against physical damage to, or malfunction of, a machine, and most kinds of malicious attack.

Remote backups

Remote backups are stored far away from the data centre. They are protection for worst case scenarios, such as full data centre failure.
